the conclusion

I think it's safe to say that finals week has been the best week of my college career out of the whopping four months that I have been at school.  You must think I am crazy for saying this. I will now try to explain some highlights from the infamous FINALS week.

-Not having classes meant two things, a. I could stay up late b. I didn't have to wake up at the crack of dawn! (did I mention I had a 7:30 class four days a week) (did I mention that it's over...and that I am never doing that again?)
- I saw my brother on campus for the first time. It's a big deal, be impressed.
- Many nights were unproductive because we would try to study with our neighbors. (they are pretty funny, I guess.) why is being unproductive so fun sometimes?
-A lot of hours were spent at the Lib. and a lot of Coke was consumed. (to get an idea, ask me how many times I went to the bathroom in one library visit?  okay I will tell you. FIVE times!) also I guess I should point out that this particular study ses. was 6.5 hours long.  It's a personal record that I am pretty proud of.  (That is even longer then my shifts at the lib.)  Gilly and I along with other friends found an empty classroom and made ourselves at home because well, we like to act like we own the place.  We could essentially do whatever the heck we wanted to in there. We didn't have to be quiet or act normal. Yes, we would randomly yell of frustration or suddenly start dancing to an oh so terrible song by Miley Cyrus as well as talk like brrrratz (it's a hobby of ours.) We would be doing math problems on the whiteboard and then we would draw pictures, practice our handwriting, or write love notes. I even tried to write on Gill's face.
I promise despite what it sounds like a lot of studying did take place. We just took, well, a lot of study breaks.

Meanwhile back at home my lovely neighbors somehow managed to break into my apartment and move EVERYTHING.  This is war boys, this is war!

-It was Katie's birthday this week!! oh she is just the loveliest, prettiest, and nicest friend ever! I hope you had the best birthday. You deserve it cook!
-I was at Mike and Chelsey's (brother and sis-in-law) house when I got home from Logan and we came across THE funniest blog post in my entire life. who knew one could shed so many tears from a single blog.
Click HERE to read it. You won't regret it, I promise.
-To wrap up the week I have spent the past few days with my big sister Katie. (I like to call her Kit just because no one else calls her that.)               Kit is my best friend.
Our homes are now separated by four hours. It's the saddest, never have we lived this far apart. We survive by our daily phone calls and occasional skype dates. today we spent our time crafting. It is a love of ours, really it's kind of embarrassing but I have missed it so much.  She got married this past August so It's been fun spending time with her and Collin and there cute little place together. Thanks kids for taking me in this weekend!

if animals looked like they do in disney movies, i would def be an animal person.

When I was a little tyke, I told my parents I didn't like honey. "I only like the honey in Winnie the Pooh," I assured them. Think about it--Winnie the Pooh's honey looks WAY more appetizing than real honey. Another thing, Simba is WAY cuter than a real lion cub. Lady? Man, if spaniels really looked like her, labs would not be that big of a deal. Unless of course they look like the Labrador in 101 Dalmatians (remember the line? "Look! I'm a Labrador! We'll all roll in the soot--we'll all look like Labradors!). So here's just a few examples:
Dumbo

Look at that chubby little elephant in a tub! I love him! He makes me baby hungry (or should I say "elephant hungry") just looking at him! If only real elephants had smiles and big blue eyes.

Lions.

"Too late to be known as 'John the First', he's sure to be known as 'John the Worst!'"
"Pinned ya!...... "Ha! Pinned ya 'gain." (I used to say that to my brother every time he let me win).
He's secretly my Disney crush. Think--if Simba were a human being? A-T-T-R-A-C-T-I-V-E! Blonde. Big brown eyes. Tan. Crooked smile. Mostly? That scratchy voice makes my heart melt! "Slimy, yet, satisfying."--Sexy Scratchy Voice provided by good ole' JTT. "I laugh in the face of danger--hahahaha!"

101 Dalmatians.

I watched this as much as possible when I was a tot. Why? Probably because these dogs are to DIE for! "I'm hungry momma. I really am. I could eat a.. a.. a whole elephant!"--Rolly. "My tail is froze; and my nose is froze; and my ears are froze; and my toes are froze..."--Lucky.  In fact, I love Disney dogs. Like...
Dodger (oliver and company)
They are where the term "puppy face" comes from I think.
Right: And yes, the same dogs appear in many movies. Jacque and Peg from Lady and the Tramp are both in 101 Dalmatians. Left: Now, I NEVER thought dogs would be romantic, but that just makes me sigh for cuteness.
May I remind you of one of my favorite Disney lines ever--"I'm a hound dog! Ah-roo-roo-roo-roo!"

Cats too.
Oliver :)
Aristocats.

Another favorite line? "Toulouse! Toulouse!" But I LOVE Berlioz's scratchy voice! I am a sucker for kids with scratchy voices!
Who's the smoothest Disney character ever?
Who would've guessed it'd be a cat.
Abraham de Lacy Giuseppe Casey Thomas O'Malley (trumpet instrumental) O'Malley the alley cat.

Woodlands Creatures

"BBBBird! Say BBBBird!"
"You can call me 'Flower,' if you want to..."

Mousellaneous.

This one's for Cookie. Remember sophomore year when we were trying to decide who you should take to a dance? So we asked random people if they had seen the Rescuers? If they said yes, we planned to say "SOLD! R-E-S-C-U-E! Rescue Aid Society! Hands held high, touch the sky, you mean everything to me!"

I heard the original voices of Minnie and Mickey were married in real life! Could just be a rumor though. You know, since everything on the internet is probably true.

Disney Fish.

Maximus does the same facial expressions as my dear friend, Jake.

He does that face all the time.
Reptiles

My favorite Disney Birds.

Now, I know of couse I am missing a lot of animals. These are just some my favorites.

Good thing I didn't do this in one sitting. That would be not only a complete waste of time, but ... Yeah. I actually have a life.

Disney animals are darling! Cased closed.

Always a Pleasure.

Friends Through a Window

A couple nights ago I came home late to find that I was locked out...shoot! Luckily, my roommate Jordan was awake. She let me in. When Jordan and I are together we like to yell through the vents, out the doors, and through the window in weird voices. What can I say? It's hilar. So as we were yelling HELP out the window..we heard a reply. Three young boys had come to our aid! Little did they know, Jo and I just yell that for fun! We even wrote HELP on the window! All of the sudden we heard a knock on our door and a voice saying "Do you need help?" We were both laughing so hard that we could not come to the door! The boys came back around to the window. We opened the window and, with the rest of our roommates, ended up talking to them for four hours! Who knew a conversation could be held through the screen of a window in the middle of the night for four hours! It was great. These special boys are now our very best friends and we communicate through writing letters window to window because they are right across from us! All I can say is that I am sure glad that the world HELP has brought us all together today:) the end!

Wool sweaters from Dads

DISCLAIMER: this is about finals. If you are currently stressed with finals like myself then I suggest you read this when finals are over.

Over thanksgiving break I decided I needed to somehow obtain a wonderful Christmas sweater for a Christmas card.  I decided I would go look at the local Deseret Industries.  Before that thought broke the surface I had a feeling I should go check my Fathers closet. (my dad has tons of sweaters from my grandma. He had gotten one-a-year for I don't know how long.)  I sneakily sneaked into my dads closet while he wasn't home because I was a little embarrassed. Not remembering exactly how they looked I thought it may have been a bad idea.  I opened the closet door and just as always behind the suits, the white dress shirts, and behind the work shirts there were the trusty sweaters. The type that only come out one week of the whole year. (I think this is why I love my dad's sweaters so much, you know it is a special occasion when you see one.)  Back to the story now the moment I saw this particular sweater I was immediately drawn to it. "WINNER" I thought as I touched it some more. I then proceeded to go back to my normal activities like I had never been in the closet and like I never wanted that sweater so much.

When the timing was right I told my dad I needed a sweater for a Christmas card and asked if I could borrow one of his. The nice dad that he is, he quickly agreed.  I rushed to "pick it out" even though it was already picked out many hours previous. It was when I put it on that I decided I surely needed it.

"I need this dad!"  "can I have it?" then I realized that was a lot to ask, as this sweater means a lot to him. So I went for a different approach. "can I please borrow this dad, I mean just for a couple of weeks." (insert puppy dog eyes and the word "daddy" here.)  He was speechless I think he was so confused that I had asked to borrow it, since it is clearly four sizes to big.  Since he didn't say anything I just kept talking. "Just think dad, it will get me through finals week." and my favorite "every time I wear it I will think of you!"  and guess what! He said yes....under two conditions. The first one is that I don't stretch it out. (I will try not to dad!) and the second is that I don't lose it. (how dare he think I have a problem with losing things!) trust me dad, this sweater is in good hands.

It is now the last week of classes and Finals are fast approaching. I am so glad I have this itchy wool sweater. It puts me in the best mood and I really do think about him!  It reminds me that once finals are over I get to go home and see my family. It reminds me that Christmas is fast approaching. And it also reminds me when I am not studying hard enough. (if I feel the itchiness then I am clearly not paying enough attention to studying, right?)

I am about to go study for five hours, so I definitely need this trusty sweater which, thanks to my dad I feel like I might be able to get through my first ever Finals week. Wish me luck? please.

here it is
love this guy! especially when he plays the Wii
It's a great sweater right?

Well i'm off to be studious.
always a pleasure!

December 1, 2011

hacked.

Once upon a time....

The girl on the bus logged into her Facebook on my phone.

So I hacked her, naturally.

"I'm engaged!!!!!" I typed. .... "cannot post" my phone shot back.

Okay...

"I'm engaged :)" I reposted.

Then she had two false statuses (stati?) about being engaged.
Crap--it put it twice?!

Here goes nothing.
"Did I mention I was engaged? I'm just so exicted! I can't sleep! He's the GREATEST!"
Now 3 statuses/stati.

Within seconds, there were likes, comments. Some knew she was kidding or hacked. Others didn't get that vibe at all. This included: Beehives from the ward, extended family members, and members of the Alta High School Class of 2011.

What can I say?

I am an FB Hackin' Champ. That's all.

Always a pleasure, kids, always a pleasure.

The uncanny whisper

Yesterday as I finished up with my last class I called Gilly.  Turns out she was done with classes for the day too. I asked her if she wanted to go the the library with me and she accepted.  The walking distance from the two buildings is approximately five minutes. So I hang up with Gill and start trekking through the bitter cold to meet her there.

Half way to the library the strangest thing happened.  I was deep in thought thinking about how I haven't run into a certain "someone" for quite some time.  Naturally I proceeded to straighten my dress, pull my hair out from under my backpack straps, and walk with good posture. (to appear confident) Just in case I saw him. Almost to the the library I hear this very subtle voice coming from the right that said "you look beautif..." I didn't hear the rest because we were walking in opposite directions.  I didn't even skip a beat I just kept walking wondering if that had really just happened.  The more I thought about it the weirder it was.  It was like I was sleeping and woke up to someone whispering that in my ear.  (I hate it when people whisper in my ear I can't stand that feeling of breath touching the inners of my ear. It gives me the chills just thinking about it.) I saw someone but I didn't see his face because who knows he could have been a complete creep.  And I was too scared to turn around and see, so I just kept walking and acted as if nothing had happened.

Once at the library Gilly and I started our homework.  As I was wrapping up with some math I noticed her intensely writing in her notebook.  20 min later she sets her notebook by me and says "so, I'm playing MASH" I was puzzled because I was almost certain she was writing some 10 page paper. I then blink a few time and reply "WHAT? HAHAH" Yes Gilly was playing MASH and that is why I love her.

on a side note
My co-worker just said "it was when I was dating him that I started comparing boys to dogs."

well today looks like it will be a pleasure as well!

November 28, 2011

pleased to meet you.

We are three girls from Utah who live ordinary lives, yet who love to embrace the little things and laugh along the way. We are all on our own for the first time. Separated by schools and cities—we still remain best friends. Please join us as we laugh, complain, cry, succeed, abbrev, praise others, share experiences and delight in our exciting and youthful lives. The PLEASURE is truly ours.

meet the contributors.

Meet Megan (the girl on the bus). Standing at a stunning 5 feet and 5 inches, our first contributor is currently a freshman at Utah State University. She's afraid of animals bigger than... hm... a small dog. She talks to herself. She has a smashing fashion sense, and loves Dole's Orange/Peach/Mango Juice from the carton. She will one day own a flower shop called "Pocket Full of Posies."

Meet Gilly (___). Gilly is... an interesting individual. For starters, her name. Who would name their kid that? Brad and Marianne. That's who. Gilly makes funny faces in the mirror... By herself. She also talks, laughs, and sings in her sleep. She is obsessed with John Deere, Harry Potter, the Beatles, Disney, and redheads. She hates clavicles. She's a whoppin' five feet of fun.

Meet Katie (Cookie). She loves golden retrievers--especially the ones with big heads. She's the dancer of the crew. She gets a little baby hungry. She names the buttons on her cardigans--after prominent church leaders. She has the comfiest bed, the sweetest dog, and the most beautiful brown eyes.

The three of us are quite the gang. We met in 10th grade 3rd period with "Creepy Skeet" and "That poor little boy that may or may not have had a crush on one of us." Back when Gilly was a redhead and Meg was more blonde, we'd braid our hair together and say "REESE'S PIECES!"

We pranked.
We laughed.
We cried.
We graduated.

We moved.... Now...

We laugh.
We cry.
We set each other up. ..... (scandal...)
We meet up every chance we get.

And now....

We blog.
