note to self

it's almost summer

it seems I resort to boys sweaters during finals week. So, lets keep that going.

look good, test good?

This is the motto of a few of my roommates which I ever so kindly decided to adopt for a couple of reasons.  The first reason being that I had two tests in one day so I really needed that extra oomph if you will.  Second, finals are approaching so theses are my last tests before the big one so I really needed a good test score.  Thirdly, (is that a word?)  it was a really warm day, so a perfect reason to wear my new maxi dress!

I went into a computer lab on tuesday morning to get some last minute studying in (not one of the labs that I work at) and I received the strangest compliment.  I say strange since it came from a stranger.  I gave the lab consultant my school ID card to get into the lab. He then proceeds to tell me the following.

"you look like you're ready for a stroll on a Mediterranean beach."

thank you? (confused face) so I snicker a little bit and realize he is being completely serious.  At this point I couldn't risk over thinking it, I had two tests worth of knowledge already in my brain with no capacity for silly boys with weird compliments.  Maybe he has never seen a maxi dress before?

So you're probably wondering how "Look good, test good" went for me.  Totally worked on my first one, but I was completely pressing my luck thinking it could work again in the same day!  Next time I would suggest changing outfits in between tests because it seems the luck runs out real quick. ;) or....I'm just not capable of such math problems. bleh

moral of the story, don't press your luck. (and you thought you were reading senseless garbage just now?  would that have a moral?)

So give it a try. "Look good, test good" My apt swears by it.

always, always, always a bridesmaid

Justin and Jenn were married on April 7, 2012 In the Logan, UT temple. (my stomping grounds!)  well kinda. It was so great to have the family come to me.  It was a fun-filled/ busy day nonetheless, worth it. I don't think it matters what we're doing, just as long as my family is all together. In between the luncheon and reception I brought my sibs back to my apartment where the little girls put on over sized t-shirts and played while everyone else found a spot and crashed. (literally) Next thing we knew we had to get back for the reception.

The photographer was taking family pics so he started arranging everyone together, he had arranged the bride and groom, parents, grandma, and the little girls. The rest of us were just waiting for our Que to hop in the pic. So he says "okay, I need all of the couples." um....so there I was singled out in my singleness looking at the ground. ALONE. Yes, I'm the youngest. I mean due to the natural happenings in life this was supposed to happen. Too soon, too soon. But I had never even thought about it. (word to the youngins: everyone gets married and leaves you. prepare early. And it would probably be a good idea not to like them so much!) Talk about a rude awakening that I hadn't thought of all day. EVERYONE IS MARRIED!!  One day I wont just be a bridesmaid even Katherine Heigl in 27 dresses eventually gets married! (don't get me wrong though I have really enjoyed my bridesmaid duties through all these weddings!)

The rest of the photog sesh was a freaking RIOT!  so first off they thought we were funny. not completely sure why, but we ate it up man!  Every time we would do something weird or unexpected he would freak out and say "do it again for a picture" he was all about making everything exciting and candid. (insert woos here!) When me and Collin started having a bubble fight with Kit he turned all of his attention to us, I guess we were causing a scene, many scenes. I went inside for a sec while he was taking pictures of just the groomsmen and when I returned I found all 3 brothers and brother-in-law crouching down a bit blowing kisses. I LOST IT. I have never seen anything funnier. ever! Yep you guessed it, he took a picture of my reaction to them.  Then my two oldest brothers proceeded to lift me up by my arms and ankles and swing me from side to side. Unfortunately by this point I think the photographer was on to us, I don't think he got a picture. Dang it. But worth every minute.

yay for marriage, yay for familes, yay for temples

congrats you two

always a pleasure

sheesters of mine

It only happens twice a year.  at precisely 6 pm on a Saturday men 12 and older are only to be found in church buildings across the state.  Year after year I am still amazed by it.  The hours between 6 and 8 is when the ultimate girls nights happen.  Go anywhere in Utah during that time and you will only see girls.  I still find humor in the sight.  Go anywhere at approx 8:05 pm, particularly fast food, all you will see is men.  It is the only time in my life where I have seen such separation between sexes. Perhaps that is why there is a priesthood session every general conference.  A time where the men get to be manly and women get to... go shopping. healthy, right?

Most years the girls in my family will get together and have a GNO of sorts.  One year my sister, and 2 sister-in-laws and I went to see Bride Wars.  I remember thinking it was a great time to bond with my sister-in-laws who at that time I didn't know super well.  Long story short the movie made me cry, okay I bawled like a baby. (to this day i haven't ever met anyone else who cried during bride wars) all in all i think a lot of bonding happened because i have grown particularly fond of them ever since.

This year the family has moved farther apart. And the typical happenings with sisters dwindled this year to a last minute trip to cafe rio.  Thank you Chels for calling me! I still have THE BEST sisters ever!

here's to all those priesthood sessions we spent together in the past. Maybe one day in a lot of years we can do an old fashioned GNO during priesthood sesh again.

I feel like being sentimental for just a bit. I am just the luckiest girl e'er!

Kit: thanks for putting up with me my whole life! You are the nicest person I have ever known. You are so smart and dedicated to the things you are involved in. You are always patient with me, even when I would try to pick fights with you Thanks for letting me sell lemonade with you, hang out with your friends (even when they didn't like me), and sit by you at lunch sometimes when I was a wee little freshman in hike school.... wanna wrestle? Most of all thanks for always being my best friend. You are a great little homemaker you! I can't wait till you have little Kollins!

Maggie: I was at such an awkward stage when we met...Thanks for accepting me nonetheless, hopefully i'm not as crazy as I was then. haha I will never forget the countless times Kit and I slept over in Prov, and how fun that was. I admire you so much, converting to the gospel, becoming a US citizen and becoming a Mother. I envy your cool name and the numerous languages that you speak. You are always so positive and cheerful. I just think you are the best little mommy too!

Chelsey: oh Chels, the first time we "met" was over a speaker phone attack. I'm pretty sure I was hocked up on coke recalling a story from earlier in the night when I almost died in a bouncy castle. And I will never forget Mike gushing about how good your hair looked after you cut it. (I think it was the lagoon date) You are so dedicated to everything also a convert, fitness enthusiast, and always loving life. You are the only person I have ever met who works out while watching the general relief society broadcast in your living room.... and THAT is why I love you!

Jenn: (official sister-in-law in 5 days) You and Justin are saints for listening to my pathetic stories over dinner. You are one talented girl, holy cow. I love running into you on campus, it makes my day. I'm glad we live so close. It is so nice to be able to come see you and Justin and just relax. You guys also give great advice! can't wait for the wedding!

lets all be neighbors one day?  and have kids at the same time so they are friends?? okay great!

always a pleasure, girls
